Framlingham College is a non-selective, co-ed, day and boarding school deeply rooted into 110-acres of Suffolk countryside, offering flexi, weekly and full boarding options. Founded in 1864 as Suffolk’s memorial to Queen Victoria’s beloved husband, Prince Albert, the school overlooks the stunning 12th Century Framlingham Castle.
Our location and strong sense of belonging in the heart of Suffolk creates a special atmosphere of ambition and freedom. There is no typical Framlinghamian, no singular path that our pupils take: we are academics, actors, musicians, expeditioners, sports stars, innovators, linguists, scientists and artists. Often, we are many things within one, each with our own story.
With our ambitious learning culture, a focus on individuality, diverse community, award winning pastoral care, innately entrepreneurial spirit and plethora of co-curricular opportunities, our purpose is to develop in each pupil the knowledge and skills they need to thrive as global citizens.
Located two hours from London with spawling countryside in between, pupils are provided with space to try new things, grow confidence and unearth talents through a variety of co-curricular and academic avenues.
Within our 85-acres of manicured sports fields, pupils can play football, rugby, cricket, hockey, netball, tennis, practise golf putting, swimming, athletics, archery and rifle shooting. Classes are often taken outside for biology, field work, astronomy, horticulture and beekeeping. In our Design Centre pupils can express themselves through traditional painting, drawing, ceramics, pottery, textiles, photography, film and animation.
Our future-ready curriculum features a unique Year 7-9 curriculum, alongside GCSEs, BTECs, and A-Levels, offering specialised subjects in Art History, Photography, Textiles, Greek, and Computer Science. Our Extended Learning Programme develops essential micro-skills, from car maintenance, CV workshops, public speaking, first aid courses, navigating AI, managing finances and cooking classes.
Our award-winning pastoral care is at the heart of all we do, ensuring that pupils feel happy, safe and secure as they navigate through adolescence. Our comprehensive support system includes mental health first aid trained staff, an on-site medical centre, an in-house clinical psychologist, wellbeing periods, buddy systems and pupil wellbeing ambassadors.
Our extensive school minibus network ensures that our rural setting has a global reach, with express services to Cambridge, Norwich, Colchester, London Liverpool Street, Stansted and Gatwick to support pupils with commuting, airport transfers, weekend activities, trips, tours, and sports matches.
We understand that our pupils’ time here is a pathway to their adult world. The world needs independent forward thinkers, risk takers and autonomous learners who can respectfully listen, debate and question. At Framlingham, we ensure that pupils leave us with the knowledge, confidence and empowerment to take on their adult world, reach their full potential and make a positive impact on society.
